The regular season ended Friday night for 128 of Iowa's 332 high school football teams.

First-round pairings for 32 playoff qualifiers in each of the state's four lowest classes (2A, 1A, A and 8-player) were announced by the Iowa High School Athletic Association Saturday morning. All first-round games are scheduled to be played Friday, Oct. 22 at 7 PM at multiple sites.

Teams that didn't qualify for the playoffs have the option of scheduling a ninth regular season game that would be played on Oct. 22 or sooner. The 108 teams that compete in Iowa's three largest classes (3A, 4A and 5A) are also scheduled to finish their nine-game regular season on Oct. 21 or Oct 22.

First-round playoff qualifiers for the three largest classes are scheduled to be released on Saturday, Oct. 23, along with second-round pairings for the other four classes. The round of 16 in all classes will feature four four-team pods. Winners of each pod advance to the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls for the state semifinals and finals.
