2020 Iowa High School Football Rankings

Upsets on a rainy Friday night caused a big shake up in this week's Associated Press Iowa high school football poll, especially in Class 4A. However, most of the area teams ranked last week held their positions.

In all, nine squads from the Cedar Valley and northeast Iowa are featured in the latest survey. Four others received votes and just missed being included among the top 10 in the six-class poll, which was released Monday evening.

Don Bosco (8-player) and Grundy Center (Class A) lead their respective classes for the third-straight week. Gladbrook-Reinbeck (No. 10) is once again ranked in the 8-player survey after winning its 18th-straight district game. Edgewood-Colesburg (No. 4), South Winneshiek (No. 5) and Wapsie Valley (No. 6) are all ranked behind the Spartans in Class A.

Waukon fell one spot from No. 6 to No. 7 in the Class 2A poll after losing to Decorah Friday night. The Vikings made their debut at No. 9 in the Class 3A rankings following the win. They are positioned one spot in front of West Delaware, which fell from No. 6 to No. 10.

One of the biggest casualties of the revamped rankings in Class 4A is Cedar Falls. The Tigers, rated at No. 3 last week, fell out of the top 10 following Friday's 34-21 loss at Cedar Rapids Prairie. Top-ranked West Des Moines Dowling was also upset, falling 18-15 to Johnston. Southeast Polk is now the new 4A leader, replacing the Maroons at No. 1.
