2019 Iowa High School Football Rankings

Six area teams climbed closer to the top of their respective classes in this week's Associated Press Iowa high school football rankings, the fourth poll of the 2019 season released by the news organization on Monday.

Cedar Falls (Class 4A, No. 2), Waterloo Columbus Catholic (2A, No. 5), North Tama (A, No. 3) and Grundy Center (A, No. 5) all jumped one spot following victories Friday night, while Independence (3A, No. 7) moved up two spots. They are among the 13 teams from the Cedar Valley and northeast Iowa featured in the six-class survey.

Don Bosco (8-player) and Waukon (2A) kept their No. 1 rankings from last week. Dike-New Hartford (1A, No. 2), Wapsie Valley (A, No. 8), MFL-Mar-Mac (A, No. 9) and Turkey Valley (8P, No. 3) also held their positions.

The were only two changes involving area teams in this week's poll. Marshalltown cracked the top-10 for the first time in Class 4A, appearing at No. 10. In Class A, Edgewood-Colesburg fell from No. 2 to No. 7 after suffering its first loss of the season.

Besides the 13 ranked teams, Janesville and Waterloo West received votes in the most recent survey. The Wildcats and Wahawks, however, just missed being rated for the first time this season.
