An Eastern Iowa couple and their dog were rescued, after capsizing their boat on the Cedar River.

The accident happened just before 2pm Tuesday (April 7) in the river in Palisades-Kepler State Park near Mount Vernon.

Linn County Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a male and female in the river.

The couple, identified as 55 year old Timothy Moothart of Atalissa, and 51 year old Jennifer Vanderweide, also of Atalissa, as well as their black Labrador Retriever, were tossed out of the boat, as the couple tried to move closer to the roller dam.
