During the annual Steamboat Springs Winter Carnival in Colorado, the Fireworks show shattered the Guinness World Record for the “largest aerial firework” with the launch of a massive 62-inch shell, 2,200 feet into the air. (it beat the record of 2,397 pounds set in the United Arab Emirates Dec. 31, 2018.)

This Colorado record-breaker weighed nearly 2800 pounds and took 12 seconds for it to reach peak altitude traveling at 300 mph.

60 miles of packing tape was used to make the shell 7" thick.
