A six-year-old child and an adult male were injured in separate shootings in Waterloo over the weekend.

The latest happened Sunday just before 9:30 PM in the 100 block of Argyle St. According to police, officers were dispatched to the area after receiving a report of shots being fired. Several people were seen running toward a nearby apartment complex, authorities said.

In a press release, police said officers spoke with people in the 200 block of Logan Ave. as part of their investigation. That's when authorities learned that a child was injured in the shooting.

Police said a parent transported the six-year-old to a local hospital for treatment of a non-life-threatening arm injury that was caused by a gunshot.

Earlier Sunday, authorities found evidence of a shooting near the Motel 6 on Logan Ave. Authorities discovered shell casings and a damaged vehicle around 4 AM.

Police said an adult male showed up at a Waterloo hospital seeking treatment for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

The two shootings on Sunday happened about two miles from each other.

No arrests have been made in either incident. The shootings both remain under investigation.
