Cedar Valley Nature Trail Repair Work Getting Underway

As the temperatures get warmer, recreation trails across Iowa become a popular place for bicyclists and others who enjoy being outdoors.
The Cedar Valley Nature Trail, a 52-mile path that runs between Waterloo and Hiawatha using a former railroad route, usually starts to get busy this time of year. However, Black Hawk County conservation officials are asking users to avoid part of the trail between Evansdale and Gilbertville until Friday.
Construction work is expected to begin Wednesday along a stretch of the Cedar Valley Nature Trail that runs parallel to Weiden Road. The project is supposed to be finished by late afternoon Thursday.
Conservation officials said trail users can expect temporary closures both days as work is done systematically to repair and improve the trail.
