A little over four months ago, we shared that police arrested and identified the Taboo Night Club shooter in Cedar Rapids.

32-year-old Timothy L. Rush faced the following charges at the time while being held in the Linn County Jail:

  • 2nd Degree Murder
  • Willful Injury - Causing Serious Injury
  • Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon
  • Reckless Use of a Firearm – Causing Serious Injury
  • Possession of a Firearm as a Felon.

KCRG shared a story in May saying that Rush is pleading not guilty to all charges and has waived his right to a speedy trial.

He shot two Cedar Rapids locals, 25-year-old Michael Valentine and 35-year-old Nicole Owens in the shooting. It was revealed later that Owens, who was killed, was the mother of Rush's child, who was born in 2021. Rush also used to work at the nightclub. According to KCRG, when Rush opened fire, prosecutors say he was "shooting indiscriminately into the crowd (at the club)."

A third person -- Marvin Cox -- who was shot in the head during the incident, also died of his injuries on July 24. He had been on life support prior to his death.

As of this morning, several news outlets now report that Rush is facing a second murder charge, this time for Cox. KCRG adds that "On Tuesday, the charges against Rush were updated to include a second-degree murder charge for the death of Cox."

Dimione Walker of Cedar Rapids is the second suspect involved in the shooting. He was arrested near Chicago following the shooting, and Linn County attorneys are currently working to extradite him to Iowa to face his charges.
