Blank Park Zoo in Des Moines has a fun event happening right now!

According to their website, Blank Park Zoo has kicked off their Wild Lights Festival, which will run through May 31st. The site says:

"Enjoy a visually stunning festival of over 35 larger-than-life illuminated animal shaped Asian lanterns designed and fabricated by artisans."

Here's a little sneak peek of what you can expect:

The event will take place Wednesday through Sunday nights from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. (the last admission is at 9:30 p.m.), with the final night happening on Memorial Day, Monday, May 31st. Since there will be limited capacity each night, tickets are required and are available in advance online. They cost $20 per person or $18 if you're a zoo member. They're also selling four-packs of tickets for $72 or $64 if you're a zoo member. For larger groups, they have discounted rates, as well. You can purchase your tickets HERE.

Just a reminder, masks will be required for all guests ages two and above, thanks to the Des Moines mask mandate. The festival will happen rain or shine and there will be no refunds or exchanges.

A few years ago, I went back home to Michigan for the holidays, and my friend and I visited the Detroit Zoo for a very similar event, also called Wild Lights. It was amazing and the lights were beautiful, but it was a little chilly since it took place in December. The weather will probably be much more favorable for the Des Moines event, since it's finally spring! If you end up going out there, please send us your photos!
