Adorable Seals at Iowa Zoo Mesmerized by Foreign Object [WATCH]
There is nothing that brings us together more than cute dog or cat videos we find on social media.
When I downloaded TikTok for the first time, the algorithm quickly realized that I loved puppy and dog videos, and I was bombarded with them for the first week of having the app on my phone.
Animals that are foreign to us may have even more of a pull if you look at social media engagement alone. For example, I searched 'baby elephant' on YouTube, and the following video came up -- it has over 30 million views:
I then followed it up by searching 'wild animals cute,' and came upon the following video that has over 2 million views.
Yeah, we have a soft spot for creatures that show tendencies of being silly, playing with a ball, enjoying belly rubs, etc.
Another example is when animals are exposed to things they would never see in their natural habitat, and they just can't understand it. Like, when researchers put big mirrors in the middle of the jungle and it had apes that were native to the area completely shook:
Now to the topic at hand, a video from KCCI has recently captivated Iowa animal lovers, and it's pretty adorable if I do say so myself.
Two seals at the Blank Park Zoo in Des Moines apparently see a potted flower for the first time, and, as shared on KCCI's Facebook page, the post reads, "Seals 'Mira' and 'Ross' were mesmerized by this potted flower. The Des Moines zoo said a keeper and her daughter planted the flower at an event earlier in day and that the little girl "was equally amazed by the seals."
