Black Hawk County's coronavirus risk status has changed for the first time since mid-April.

Local health officials lowered the level from high to moderate Tuesday, the same day Gov. Kim Reynolds lifted several statewide restrictions and permitted gatherings of more than 10 people to resume. Reynolds signed a proclamation Tuesday allowing casinos, amusement parks, speedways, arcades and bowling alleys to reopen June 1. Large gatherings for social functions and sports competitions can also resume, starting Monday.

While the number of deaths across Iowa have increased to 485, Black Hawk County's death toll is now up to 41. Local health officials reported two additional deaths and six new COVID-19 cases Tuesday, raising the total number of positive tests to 1,922.

Black Hawk County's risk status has been at a high level since being elevated on April 16.
