Authorities are investigating a two-vehicle accident in northern Black Hawk County that sent four people to hospital.

Sheriff's officials said Janet Levendusky, 80, of Oelwein, and a passenger in her sport utility vehicle, were transported by ambulance to a Waterloo hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Joel Rochford, 41, of New Hampton, and a passenger in his pick-up, were taken by private vehicle for medical assessment.

According to authorities, Rochford was traveling northbound on U.S. Highway 63 when his pick-up collided with Levendusky's SUV at the intersection with County Road C-57 (Cedar-Wapsi Road) about four miles north of Waterloo. Sheriff's officials said Levendusky was cited for her involvement in the collision, which occurred just after 3:30 PM on Thursday (Dec. 27, 2018).

Black Hawk County sheriff's deputies were assisted at the scene by the Iowa State Patrol, Iowa Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Enforcement, Oelwein Ambulance and Denver Fire/Ambulance.
