Area Child Bitten By Wolf; Checking for Rabies
Authorities in nearby Southwest Wisconsin are investigating an incident in which a pet wolf bit and seriously injured a young child.
It happened Monday morning, Memorial Day (May 29) at a residence in Paris Township, east of Potosi, in rural Grant County, Wisconsin.
An unidentified 2 year old girl was with her family, when the pet wolf, being held in a cage, bit the girl's arm, causing serious injuries.
The girl was initially taken to Mercy Hospital in Dubuque, then air-cared to University of Wisconsin Hospitals in Madison. There was no word on her condition.
The wolf, owned by Sheryl Hess, was put down. The animal is now being tested for rabies.
