…and it’s eerily precise.

Issue #46 was first printed as part of the “Betty” comic series in February 1997.

The six-page story, originally titled “Betty in High School 2021 A.D.” features Betty and her friends in Riverdale coming face-to-face (or face-to-computer monitor) with the struggles of learning from home.

How accurate is it? It begins with Betty’s father talking about how kids are able to attend school without even leaving their home and how they don’t even have to carry books to class anymore. Sound familiar?

Betty is also sitting in her room, in front of a computer, with a video camera attached to the monitor. As the teacher greets the class through the computer, Betty’s wireless phone rings and her friend, Veronica, pops up on a video, interrupting the teacher.

Later, Betty and Veronica ‘fly’ over in what appears to be a ‘hover car’ to the ‘old’ high school (which is now a museum) to see how students attended school in the past.

According to archiecomics.com:

When this story was reprinted in 2015, and the year in the title was changed to “2104 AD” (probably because we didn’t have flying cars yet) but rest assured, the original story was published in 1997 and eerily predicted elements of virtual home schooling now commonly found across the world!
