December 9, 1974 - On Monday Night Football, John Lennon stops by booth during a match between the Los Angeles Rams and Washington Redskins and is interviewed by Howard Cosell.

Almost exactly six years later, Cosell broke the news that Lennon had been shot and killed. (12/8/1980)
