45 Years Ago Today – ‘Wheel of Fortune’ Made its Debut

It's the longest-running syndicated game show in the United States, with over 7,000 episodes.

The original host of Wheel of Fortune was Chuck Woolery, from its 1975 premiere until on Christmas Dad in 1981, except e for one week in 1980 when Alex Trebek hosted in his place. On December 28, 1982, Pat Sajak took over as host and he is now the longest-running host of any game show in history.
