Authorities have made a significant drug bust early this morning (Friday, April 7) in Oelwein.

Shortly after 1am, the Oelwein Police Department, assisted by the Fayette County Sheriff's Office, executed a search warrant at a residence in the 600 block of 1st Avenue SE.

During the search, officers confiscated over 65 grams of methamphetamine, 8 grams of marijuana, 44 grams of psychedlic mushrooms (Psilocyn), along with drug paraphernalia.

As a result, 4 Oelwein residents have been arrested: 30 year old Elizabeth Gabriel, 38 year old Randy Butts, 29 year old Zacharias Stowe, and 39 year old Matthew Davis.

Charges include Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Deliver, Possession of psychedelic mushrooms with intent to deliver, Gathering Where Controlled Substances are Used, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Drug Tax Stamp Violations.

According to Oelwein Police Chief Jeremy Logan, the arrests are the result of a several-month investigation, and more arrests and charges are pending.
