12/11/1987: ‘Throw Mama From the Train’ was Released in Theatres

Though it's not considered a 'Holiday Classic' with its December theatrical release, 'Throw Momma from the Train' is one of my favorites to watch around the Holidays. It starred Danny Devito & Billy Crystal, but it was Anne Ramsey who played a fantastic "Mama." She was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. (Which was won by Olympia Dukakis for her role in the movie Moonstruck)

Anne Ramsey died just eight months after the release of the movie at the age of 59. (she also had a part in Scrooged, which was released 3 months after her death, but is probably best known as 'Mama Fratelli' in 1985's THE GOONIES )
