This afternoon we learned that Dusty Hill, ZZ Top's iconic bassist, has passed away at 72.

Billy Gibbons and Frank Beard took to Facebook to announce the news.

"We are saddened by the news today that our Compadre, Dusty Hill, has passed away in his sleep at home in Houston, TX. We, along with legions of ZZ Top fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature and enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the ‘Top'. We will forever be connected to that "Blues Shuffle in C." The boys add, "You will be missed greatly, amigo."

It's unclear at this time what the cause of Dusty's death was, but a week ago the band shared the news that Dusty was headed home to deal with a hip issue.

With one of the bearded singers of the band now gone, the remainder of their current tour is up in the air.
