It's always a competition when  you're talking about which state is better than others. Especially when you're pitting the state you hale from against, let's say Minnesota, which I think is one of the worst states in the Union, but that's my opinion and it's sole reason is because of the Vikings. So, what states are the best? Well, it's below and Iowa doesn't do well.

With the Fourth of July fast approaching, the folks at Thrillist have come up with the ultimate ranking of all 50 U.S. states--judging them by what exactly they’ve done for the sake of the rest of the country. Using such metrics as state-born innovations, famously productive people’s home states and the unique physical beauty that each state offers, here are the 10 best states in America:

  1. Michigan
  2. Maine
  3. Kentucky
  4. Wisconsin
  5. Louisiana
  6. Hawaii
  7. Minnesota
  8. Washington
  9. California
  10. Colorado

AND, coming at #25, smack dab in the middle is Iowa. Why you ask? Because according to the authors of this list, Iowa is boring:

The Hawkeye State is like that kid you bunk with at camp who has decent snacks, and never tries to steal your diary and read it aloud at lunch, even though he can hear you weeping while you write your missives under the covers. So basically it’s pleasant, but not entirely memorable. Though to be fair, in most countries, coming up with the Eskimo Pie, the loose-meat sandwich, and University of Iowa three point-shooting legend Chris Kingsbury would be enough to ensure a place at the top of the heap. But America is not most countries, according to Wikipedia. - thrillist.com

I don't agree, since we provide food for much of the world and we know how to have a good time without too much rioting. Oh well, at least we're not Florida, which ranked dead last.
