Waterloo Woman Dies In Construction Zone Accident
A Waterloo woman died in a construction zone accident in southern Iowa Tuesday afternoon (June 13, 2017).
The Iowa State Patrol said Barbarella Moore, 48, was struck by a vehicle as she was preparing to flag traffic, while another construction worker was cutting concrete in the work zone. A medical examiner pronounced Moore dead at the scene.
State troopers identified the driver of the vehicle as Brady Rasmus, 32, of Chariton. According to an accident report, Rasmus didn't see Moore and struck her with his vehicle.
The mishap occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Lucas County Road S-45, about 10 miles northeast of Chariton.
Authorities said signs were in place warning drivers of the construction zone at the time of the accident.
