Waterloo Police Investigating Apparent Murder-Suicide
Police are investigating a possible murder-suicide that happened in Waterloo over the weekend.
Officials were dispatched to the Pineview Apartment Homes, 3870 Pineview Place, to investigation a report of a shooting on late Saturday. When they arrived just after 11 PM, police found a female inside the apartment with at least one gunshot wound. Authorities said she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said they were able to identify a suspect in the fatal shooting, based on witness statements. Following a search, they located the man a few hours later on the other side of the city.
According to a press release, the man was found in an alley in the 2200 block of East 4th Street. Police said the man shot himself while officers in the process of setting up a perimeter in the area. Police said the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities did not immediately identify the man or woman in the apparent murder-suicide. Autopsies are pending for both victims.
Police said are not looking for any additional suspects in connection with the incident.
