Social media exploded last night with reports from attendees at Dave Chappelle's show at Hollywood Bowl, as part of the Netflix is a Joke Festival.

While onstage, Chapelle was apparently rushed by someone from the audience. Attendees' phones were confiscated at the gate, however, there still are a few videos sprinkled throughout social media.

Chapelle Attacked, Security Responds

One video shows what appears to be a 1-2 second clip of Chapelle onstage, holding a microphone, as someone attempted to tackle him.

Chapelle quickly moves backward, leaving the man's tackle without power. The two did fall to the stage, but the attacker quickly got up and ran, being chased backstage by security.

Can you count how many people it takes to tackle someone who rushed the stage? I'm seeing at least 8.

Accounts also shared video of the attacker allegedly being loaded into the back of an ambulance, his arms visibly bending a direction they shouldn't be.

Usually when you go on stage, they tell you to break a leg. I guess sometimes, you run backstage and have everything else broken for you.

A video from the end of the show shows Chapelle and Jamie Foxx on the stage together. Apparently, Jamie Foxx rushed the stage to help apprehend the man going after Chapelle.

“Whenever you’re in trouble, Jamie Foxx will show up in a sheriff’s hat,” said the headliner by way of thanks.

“I thought that was part of the show,” Foxx is heard to respond.

Later, Chapelle spoke more brashly on the attack, saying, “I’ve been doing this for 35 years. I just stomped a N***** backstage. I’ve always wanted to do that.”

Foxx spoke lovingly of Chapelle.

Warning: Strong Language

“Listen, I just want to say…this man is an absolute genius. We’ve got to make sure we protect him at all times,” said Foxx. “For every comedian who comes out here, this means everything. You’re a genius. You’re a legend, and we’re not going to let nothing happen to you.”

Chris Rock also came on stage, and made a comment referencing when someone (Will Smith) rushed him while onstage.

"Was that Will Smith?" He said into the microphone.

After Foxx left the stage Chappelle, possibly thinking about all the nerves and emotions as fans would exit the show, said to the crowd, “Everybody compose yourselves.”
