Vehicle Hits Motorcycle, One Injured

A Thursday (May 29th) morning accident, involving a motorcycle and car, sent a La Porte City man to the hospital.

Black Hawk County Sheriff Deputies were called to a traffic accident with injuries on South Canfield Rd at Highway 20 just after 8:00 A.M.

According to the Sheriff report, a motorcycle driven by 37 year old Seth Shepard of La Porte City was headed southbound on South Canfield Road when a vehicle headed north, driven by 78 year olf Wendell Erpelding of Jesup, turned left in front of motorcycle causing Shepard to flip into the ditch.

Shepard received multiple injuries.  He was also wearing a helmet and was transported to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Mr. Erpelding was charged with Failure To Yield While Making a Left Turn.

Black Hawk County Sheriff Deputies were assisted on the scene by the Gilbertville and Jesup Fire Departments.
