Today is International Waffle Day
It's time to celebrate one of the few "holidays" that you can start your day off with.
March 25th is "International Waffle Day," which is good, because every good day I've had has started with a waffle.
Waffles started back in the 1600's in Sweden, but quickly spread because they're awesome. At that time, they were typically eaten with jams and fruits, making them a treat for any time of day.
Around the 1700's, things began to shift to a sweeter recipe when more butter and sugar was added.
1839 brought us what we're more used to today, when the Belgian waffle was created to be much thicker than regular waffles.
Ways to Celebrate:
- Do it traditional style; paired with jam, whipped cream and fresh berries.
- Dine at a local waffle house (or a Waffle House)
- Spend the morning making as many waffles as possible for your office.
Also, check out this sandwich Hairball had at a coffee shop near Nashville. Sausage egg and cheese INSIDE the waffle with a biscuits & gravy style gravy dip.
