This week is just no good.

We all remember certain historical events but a lot of terrible ones happened in the middle of April. In a month of 30 days, the 15th of April and give or take a few days before and after have had terrible things happen.

Here are some of the awful things that have happened on or near April 15th in history.

April 15th, 1865 - The Assassination of President Lincoln
Shortly after the American Civil War, President Lincoln was shot by John Wilkes Booth while attending Our American Cousin at the Ford Theater in Washington D.C..

April 18th, 1906 - The San Francisco Earthquake
A powerful earthquake claimed the lives of 3,000 people, 80% of the city was destroyed and 300,000 were left homeless.

April 15th, 1912 - The Sinking of the RMS Titanic 
The passenger liner struck an iceberg and sunk during it's maiden voyage across the Atlantic. Almost 70% of the passengers and crew perished in the disaster.

April 20th, 1914 - The Ludlow Massacre
Striking coal minors and National Guardsmen broke out in a gun fight in Ludlow, Colorado. 20 people were killed including coal minors wives and children.

April 19th, 1993 - The Waco Siege Ends
Members of the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms attempted to raid a compound occupied by the Branch Davidian religious group. After several weeks, it was April 19th that the ATF, FBI, law enforcement, and the U.S. Military used tear gas to flush out the group resulted in a fire killing 76 people.

April 19, 1995 - The Oklahoma City Bombing
An explosion of ammonium nitrate fertilizer happened outside of the Alfred P. Murrah federal building killing 168 people. Timothy McVeigh and others who orchestrated the attack said it was in retaliation to the government's handling of the siege at Waco. McVeigh was executed by lethal injection.

April 20th, 1999 - The Columbine High School Massacre
2 students shot and killed 12 students and one teacher. The two gunmen died by suicide after a shootout with police.

April 16th, 2007 - The Virginia Tech Shooting
The worst school shooting in U.S. history as 49 people were shot, killing 32.

April 20th, 2010 - The Deepwater Horizon Disaster
An oil drilling rig exploded 40 miles off the Louisiana coast drilling for BP. 11 workers lost their lives and 17 more were injured.

April 15th, 2013 - The Boston Marathon Bombing
Terrorist detonated two bombs at the finish line of the Boston Marathon killing 3 and injuring 250.

April 17th, 2013 - The West Fertilizer Company Explosion 
The blast was the equivalent to 7 tons of TNT when a fire broke out at a fertilizer storage and distribution facility. 15 people were killed, 160 injured and 150 buildings were destroyed or damaged.

April 15th, 2019 - The Notre Dame Cathedral Fire
A fire broke out during renovations of the cathedral that has been standing since the 1100's. Firefighters tried to save relics and works of art that were more that 850 years old.
