The weekend is here! Time for the ghost and goblins to come out in full force. In fact, several local communities have opted for separate Trick-or-treating options. Find a location and schedule that matches your family's plans or choose to attend one of the great events below.

Local Halloween Activities & Events:

The Galena Area Chamber of Commerce 43rd annual Halloween Parade will be held Saturday, October 29th beginning at 6:30pm. A parking shuttle from the Walmart parking lot is $5 per person. A costume contest will be held at Washington Park from 3 to 6pm.

The Dickeyville Rescue Squad and Jamestown First Responders will hold their annual Halloween Dance on Saturday, October 28th from 8pm to midnight at Sunset Hall in Dickeyville. Walking Molly will perform live music. Costume judging begins at 10pm with cash prizes awarded. A $7 donation will be asked at the door.

Mad Scientist Fun Day at the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium will be held on Sunday, October 29th from 9a to 5pm. Trick-or-treating, games, science experiments, music, and all of the regular daily programming will be available. Find the schedule of events at the website.

A free Community Open House to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Grand River Center will be held on Saturday, October 28th from 11am to 3pm. The celebration features a wide range of activities, entertainment, and complimentary food (while supplies last). The event is suitable for all ages.

Check out the Great River Reapers Home Haunt held Tonight (10/27) from 5 to 10pm, Saturday 10/28 from 5 to 10pm, Sunday 10/29 from Noon to 10pm, Monday 10/30 from 5 to 9pm, and Tuesday 10/31 from 5 to 9pm. Stroll through a graveyard, see spiders on the roof, animated figures, a horse drawn hearse and more. In conjunction with the haunt, they do a food drive for the Dubuque Food Pantry and accept cash donations for the Veterans Freedom Center. Bring the little ones during daylight hours it's free to attend.

Visit Grimmwood Acres now through Halloween from 6 to 10pm for a ghastly experience sure to thrill all ages! The haunt is a complete song and light show in a handcrafted cemetery with your local favorite: the singing pumpkins. Piping out holiday classics like “This Is Halloween” and “Monster Mash,” these ghostly pumpkins are hoping to spook you this holiday season. It's free to attend.

Check out the Sweet Treats on Main event in Platteville from 11am to 1pm. Enjoy this safe and fun place for kids to trick-or-treat. The event features a large number of Main Street merchants who will happily fill your little ones’ bags with various goodies. Many of the merchants also offer special discounts as a treat for the adults as well. See many of your children’s favorite characters also trick-or-treating. Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, Goofy, and the Cat in the Hat are just a few of the guests known to make an appearance at the event. In addition to trick-or-treating, several other fun activities will be happening. There is a free children’s movie at Avalon Cinema at 9:30am. The Mining & Rollo Jamison Museums will be offering train rides, weather permitting. Decorate pumpkins in front of Garvey’s. Plus, take a photo with a Disney Princesses.

Check out Katie's Halloween Garden on Saturday 10/28 from 5 to 8pm. No tricks—just treats! The Light Fright is just right for young children. Search for hidden bats and ghouls twinkling among the trees and gardens. Meet the friendly witch—she just might have a treat for you. Enjoy cider and treats as you wonder through the Garden’s Halloween decorations. This event is free to attend at 275 West Business Hwy 151 in Platteville.

Stop by Schuster's Pumpkin Patch and corn maze at 7541 Schueller Heights Road in Dubuque featuring a corn maze and pumpkin patch, Schuster’s features a smaller kid's maze, pumpkin launcher, paint ball rides, and kids’ games and activities.
