The decade of the 90s is fondly remembered by music fans of all ages. Yes, including those who weren't even born. Nostalgia and throwbacks are in!

While many 90s artists or bands are still alive and well, fans of some genres have seen their favorite 90s musicians disband, or sadly, pass away. Today I wanted to celebrate some of the biggest bands/artists who hit Cedar Rapids in the 90s and played at the Alliant Energy PowerHouse, which was known as the Five Seasons Center at the time.

I'll share with you the artist, the date they played the area, and the setlist (most shows) for the concert. Credit for the research goes to setlist.fm, which provides great information on concerts from the past.

This list is in not in order by rank, but rather by year, working backward from 1999. I thought we'd start at the end of the decade as we (nostalgically) work our way backward through the decade.

Steve Miller Band - April 22nd, 1999 -- Last Call Tour

The legendary, Rock and Roll Hall of Famer hit Cedar Rapids in April 1999. This was for their Last Call tour. Unfortunately, I could not find the setlist for this show. I did, however, find some merch thanks to an eBay listing!

KISS -- December 19, 1998 -- Psycho Circus Tour

One of the best concerts in terms of theatrics is a KISS concert. The band had a lot of farewell tours since this show in late 1998. The band came several other times in the 1990s.

Prince -- December 13, 1997 -- Jam Of The Year Tour

Mötley Crüe -- October 10, 1997 -- Mötley Crüe vs. The Earth Tour

The Crüe is still as big now as they were in the 1980s. But in the late 1990s? Not so much, actually. That's what makes this such a fascinating tour. The band had parted ways with Vince Neil, their lead singer. The replacement singer was a flop, and Vince was brought back in 1997 and was on this tour.

On this setlist, you'll notice some classics and some duds from the album that came out just prior to this tour. The album was called Generation Swine.

Find Myself
Girls, Girls, Girls
Wild Side
Shout at the Devil
Looks That Kill
Don't Go Away Mad (Just Go Away)
Dr. Feelgood

Kickstart My Heart

Tim McGraw -- October 19, 1996 -- The Spontaneous Combustion Tour

In 1996, country superstar Tim McGraw had the biggest country tour of the year, his The Spontaneous Combustion Tour. It rolled into CR in October. The setlist below is not from the Cedar Rapids show as that one wasn't available. However, it appears that Tim did a similar set at most shows, so it's likely close if not the same.

Indian Outlaw
Don't Take the Girl
I Like It, I Love It
Maybe We Should Just Sleep on It
Refried Dreams
She Never Lets It Go to Her Heart
All I Want Is a Life
Can't Be Really Gone
Down on the Farm
Memory Lane
Nobody Knows (The Tony Rich Project cover)
Renegade
The Joker (Steve Miller Band cover)
You Got the Wrong Man

Ozzy Osbourne- April 21, 1996 – Retirement Sucks Tour (spoiler, he didn't stay retired)

No bats were harmed in the making of this concert! That was in Des Moines over a decade earlier. The Oz Man cameth and even did some classic Black Sabbath material. I love every one of these songs. Missing though, the 1986 hit "Shot In The Dark" which Ozzy stopped performing due to legal disputes with album writers and producers Phil Soussan and Bob Daisley.

Paranoid
I Don't Know
Goodbye to Romance
Perry Mason
No More Tears
Flying High Again
I Just Want You
I Don't Want to Change the World
Suicide Solution
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath
Iron Man
Sweet Leaf
Children of the Grave
Mr. Crowley
War Pigs
Crazy Train
Mama
I'm Coming Home
Bark at the Moon

Boyz II Men -- April, 18th 1995 -- Boyz II Men North American Tour

Boyz II Men were HUUUUUUUUGE in the 1990s. Massively successful and they struck while the iron was hot. With over 75 dates in the U.S. for this tour, they rolled into CR in April.

I couldn't find setlist info, oddly enough. Despite doing so many concerts. One has to assume they played "On Bended Knee" and "I'll Make Love to You", two of their massive hits.

Lynyrd Skynyrd -- July 1, 1993 -- The Last Rebel Tour

The southern rockers hit the Five Seasons Centersummer 1993. Of course, this is not the original lineup as many members died on October 20, 1977, in a plane crash, including lead singer Ronnie Van Zant.

The setlist below is not the Cedar Rapids show, but the songs played at all stops on this tour.

Sweet Home Alabama
The Last Rebel
Workin' for MCA
Gimme Three Steps
Good Lovin's Hard to Find
Saturday Night Special
That Smell
Free Bird
Simple Man
Swamp Music
What's Your Name
Call Me the Breeze
Tuesday's Gone
Gimme Back My Bullets

MC Hammer -- July 26, 1992 -- Too Legit to Quit Tour

What more icnonic artist was there in the early 1990s than MC Hammer? There wasn't. Between the parachute pants, the warm smile, and the sense of (now) nostolgia that washes over you when you think of Hammer, this would have been one incredible show to attend. Especially since Hammer's star, and money, faded soon after.

Pray
U Can't Touch This
Have You Seen Her
2 Too Legit to Quit
Brothers Hang On
Do Not Pass Me By
Here Comes the Hammer
Let's Get It Started
This Is the Way We Roll
Turn This Mutha Out

AC/DC -- November 29, 1990 -- "The Razors Edge" World Tour

One of the biggest rock bands in the history of rock and roll. And, they opened with Thunderstruck... which is such a massive hit, it could have been the encore. Of course, in November 1990, it was still a new song, and bands don't typically play a new song as the encore. Look at this setlist... WOW.

Thunderstruck
Shoot to Thrill
Back in Black
Fire Your Guns
Sin City
Heatseeker
Jailbreak
The Jack
The Razors Edge
That's the Way I Wanna Rock 'n' Roll
Moneytalks
Hells Bells
High Voltage
You Shook Me All Night Long
Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
Whole Lotta Rosie
Let There Be Rock

Encore:
Highway to Hell

T.N.T.
For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)

While there were many more shows in the 1990s, these 10 stick out as the cream of the crop.
