The Fayette County Sheriff is investigating an accident involving a transit bus.


Shortly after 1pm Tuesday (Jan. 24), authorities were notified that a bus went into a ditch near the intersection of Highway 187 and 60th Street, just south of Arlington.

72 year old Larry Purman of Elkader was driving the transit bus north on 187, when it went onto the shoulder of the road in loose gravel, then entered a ditch.

No one was injured, and the transit bus had minimal damage.

A Postville motorist escaped injury in a one-vehicle accident in rural Fayette County.

At about 5:45am this morning (Wednesday, Jan. 25), the Fayette County Sheriff got a report of a car in the ditch in the 26000 block of Harding Road, east of West Union.

19 year old Carlos Gonzalez was driving south on Harding when he lost control of the car, and drove into the ditch. No one was injured. The 2005 Nissan Altima had $1,000 damage.

This accident is also under investigation.
