Rural Jesup Rollover Sends 2 To Hospital

Charges are pending in a weekend accident in Buchanan County.

Authorities were called to the scene at the intersection of Dugan Avenue and 220th Street, east of Jesup, just before 7:30 p.m. on Saturday (Dec. 2, 2017). Sheriff's officials said Todd McCloud, 39, of Oelwein failed to obey a stop sign. His car went through the "T" intersection and entered a a ditch, where it catapulted into a field and rolled several times.

McCloud and a passenger were taken to the Independence hospital for treatment. The passenger, a juvenile, was later airlifted to University Hospitals in Iowa City. McCloud was transferred to a hospital in Cedar Rapids.

Buchanan County sheriff's officials continue to investigate the accident. Charges are possible, authorities said.
