Rural Coggon Shooting Victim Identified
Authorities have released the name of a man found shot to death near the Linn County community of Coggon.
The Linn County Sheriff was called out to an altercation and shooting at about 6pm Wednesday (Feb. 1), where responding officers found the body of a man lying in a yard at a rural Coggon residence.
The person has now been identified as 20 year old Dylan Michael Plotz of Cedar Rapids.
An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted today (Friday) by the State Medical Examiner's Office in Ankeny, to determine the exact cause of death.
According to the Linn County Sheriff, investigating detectives completed the execution of a search warrant at the home, at 2260 Seven Hills Road in rural Coggon, and control of the residence has been returned to the homeowner.
No arrests have been reported.
Authorities note that they will continue to execute multiple search warrants, and the investigation continues.
