The Los Angeles Rams announced on Monday that they've signed Davenport native Jake Gervase to a reserve/futures contract. If you don't speak NFL, that means they've signed a contract saying they're going to keep him around and don't want him going anywhere else.

Gervase signed on with the Rams as an undrafted rookie in 2019, but was waived last offseason before landing back with the team on the practice squad. He was promoted to the active roster for Week 15 as a COVID-19 replacement.

He was offered the contract alongside quarterback Devlin Hodges.

Jake Gervase graduated from Assumption High School in Davenport before playing for University of Iowa. He was drafted to the NFL in 2019.

Jake is also the 2020 2Dorks Celebrity Pinewood Derby Champion, though some believe he may have cheated his way to victory by sneaking by the weigh station, and competing with a car that was overweight. He then pulled out a pocket knife and whittled part of the car away to bring it to the legal weight, and still won with a two car lead.
