Buchanan County sheriff's officials are asking for the public's help in identifying a vehicle that was involved in a hit-and-run accident on Saturday, May 13, 2017.

According to authorities, the crash happened around 4 p.m. outside McElroy's Food Mart in Winthrop. Deputies said a dark-colored, smaller-sized pickup truck (shown in the surveillance video below) struck another vehicle while leaving the parking lot. The pickup's driver left the scene without calling law enforcement or leaving information at the scene.

The video shows that the driver pulled into the parking lot, reversed the vehicle, then re-entered the lot. What's not shown is the accident. According to sheriff's officials, when the pickup backed up, it went over a concrete curb and struck an unoccupied vehicle that was parked adjacent to Citizens State Bank.

Authorities are hoping that someone can identify the vehicle and driver shown in the video. Anyone with information should call the Buchanan County sheriff's office at (319) 334-2568 or use the "Report a Tip or Crime" link on the Buchanan County Sheriff's Office website.
