Police Shocked After Finding A Strange Animal In Car During Traffic Stop
An Arizona Police Department dealt with an interesting situation over the week.
The Payton Police Department made a post on Facebook sharing that officers pulled over a man for a possible DUI. Not only was he breaking the law of driving under the influence, but he was also breaking another law, possession of wildlife.
Police noticed a live owl beside the man in the car.
The man confessed to the officers that another driver found the owl on the side of the road and sold it to him for $100 at a gas station.
The Payton Police Facebook post was informative and funny as it said, “The Payson Police Department would also like to take this opportunity to encourage the public not to use methamphetamine or you too may find yourself illegally purchasing a wild owl, for $100, in the middle of the night, from strangers, at a local gas station.”
The small owl appeared to have minor injuries but will be OK. The owl could not be released so it was picked up by the Arizona Game.
The driver faces multiple charges, including aggravated DUI, possession of methamphetamine, and possession, transport, or purchase of wildlife.
