One Dies In Buchanan County Accident

One person has died in a two-vehicle accident in Buchanan County, where icy conditions were a factor.

The Iowa State Patrol responded to the crash on U.S. Highway 20 near Independence around 6:15 PM on Tuesday.

Officials said an eastbound car went out of control on the icy highway, slid through the median, and crashed into a westbound semi. The car's driver was pronounced dead.

Authorities have not yet released the names of those involved in the accident, which remains under investigation.
