Motorist Causes Accident By Answering Phone
A northeast Iowa motorist is being charged with causing an accident, after she tried to answer her cell phone while driving
The crash happened about one mile west of Sumner on Iowa Highway 93 just before 4 PM on Tuesday (Jan. 30, 2018).
The Iowa State Patrol said Kendell Brown, 22, of Sumner, attempted to answer an incoming phone call. Her westbound car crossed the center line and collided head-on with an on-coming car, driven by Amanda Ward, 24, also of Sumner.
Ward was the only one injured in the accident. She was taken to the Sumner hospital to be treated for unspecified injuries.
According to an accident report, Brown was charged with driving on the wrong side of the highway.
