When Americans get tired of their favorites like pizza and hamburgers...where do they turn to for something maybe a little more exotic?

China would be the answer. Luckily, you don't have to go half way around the world for your favorite Chinese dish. Just look down your local street and you can find a number of Chinese restaurants. Chinese food is not only one of the oldest cuisines, but it also has grown to be one of the top authentic cuisines here in the U.S. and around the world.

As we live through a period of time where restaurants delivering food is more popular than ever, it's interesting to know that Chinese restaurants were among the first to bring food to the doorsteps of people. Another big reason Chinese restaurants became so popular is that they remain open on Christmas, and other Christian holidays, so people can turn to these restaurants when everywhere else is closed. I know one of my family's favorite traditions is ordering Chinese food on New Year's eve or New Year's day to celebrate the new year.

It's hard to fault Chinese cuisine for a lack of a variety of dishes. There are so many different combinations it makes it hard to choose something off the menu. Some people like to stay true to the culture and use chopsticks, for me, I'm a lot less sophisticated, I prefer a good old fork so I can shove it into my "pie hole' as fast as possible. When you're done eating, make sure to carefully choose a "fortune cookie", and I hope you get a good fortune, I think we all could use one the way 2020 has been going.
