Mellow Mushroom in Coralville is Closing Its Doors This Month

It's the end of the road for a Corridor pizza restaurant. Mellow Mushroom has announced that they will shut down their Coralville location at the end of the year.

The official announcement was made this morning (December 20, 2023) on Mellow Mushroom's Facebook page. It reads:

"Thank you to all of our loyal supporters. After 10 years in business, we will be closing our doors on December 31st, 2023. Please come in and enjoy all of your Mellow favorites today!"

Mellow Mushroom is a national chain with locations all over the country that is known for its "delicious dough, premium ingredients, and unique flavors." The Coral Ridge Mall location is the only one in the state of Iowa. In addition to the stone-baked pizzas, Mellow Mushroom also offers 74 beers on tap, wings, salads, calzones, burgers, hoagies, and plant-based options.

One of my favorite things about Mellow Mushroom in Coralville is the decorations. The entire restaurant is alien-themed, with a giant UFO abducting a cow right in the center of the eatery. I always enjoyed spotting fun, little details during my visits. Plus, the pizza was AMAZING. Especially that crust!

If you'd like to check out Mellow Mushroom at Coral Ridge Mall one final time before they close, the restaurant is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday & Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. It will definitely be missed by many of us here in Eastern Iowa!
