A Marshalltown woman is accused of insurance fraud.

Deborah Specht, 59, was arrested Monday following a seven-month investigation. Authorities charged Specht with one count of fraudulent submissions and one count of first-degree theft, both of which are felonies.

According to a press release, the charges against Specht stem from an investigation that began in December 2018. Authorities allege that Specht submitted a fraudulent claim to her insurance company and received reimbursement through her policy.

The investigation was conducted by the Iowa Insurance Division's Fraud Bureau in cooperation with Marshalltown police.

Specht was booked into the Marshall County Jail.
