Man Turns Self in on Outstanding Theft/Burglary Warrants

A young Illinois man, wanted on an outstanding warrant from Northeast Iowa, has turned himself in to authorities.

At about 4:30am today (Thursday, Feb. 2), 18 year old Taylor Schmidt of Plainfield, Illinois, turned himself over to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office, on 2 outstanding Fayette County warrants, for theft and burglary.

Schmidt is being held in the Fayette County jail on $40,000 bond.

Fayette County deputies were called out to an accident involving a deer Wednesday evening.   It happened on Great River Road, northwest of Clermont.

52 year old Karma Rae Knospe of West Union was driving north, when several deer entered the roadway.

She was not able to avoid striking one of the deer; no one was injured, but there was $3,500 damage to her 2004 Nissan Titan.
