Man Steals Police Car As He’s Arrested For Stealing Police Car

The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) major crimes unit has their hands full with paperwork and an investigation after two police cars were stolen in Quebec.

According to the SQ, at around 12:30pm, Lévis police asked for help looking for a missing police vehicle that was stolen when officers made contact with a "disorganized" man.

Not long after the request, the police car was spotted travelling on a nearby highway. Police set up a spike strip trap about 40 miles down the road, but the spikes didn't work. The perp hit a cement barrier before continuing to evade them.

An hour after the car was stolen, police had a successful spike. The SQ said the suspect then “resisted arrest, assaulted a police officer and succeeded, for a short time, in commandeering an SQ patrol vehicle.”

Another pursuit began, but he was able to be caught and arrested shortly after, and was taken to a hospital. The SQ said two officers were injured in the ordeal, but they're not considered life-threatening.
