Man Impersonating A Police Officer Arrested for Stealing Donut
Obviously, anyone impersonating a police officer belongs behind bars, but I'll be damned if this guy didn't overly commit to his role.
47-year-old Daniel Wright was arrested in Utah over the weekend for impersonating an officer. He also stole something that cops are known to enjoy.
He walked into a 7-Eleven on Sunday wearing a jacket that said "Sheriff's Deputy," and he was in the clear until an employee called the real police after Daniel decided to steal a donut.
Police checked the security footage and tracked him and his white Ford pickup truck to a nearby motel, where they arrested him and his female companion.
They also tied Daniel to a guy who they'd arrested a day before that was hiding in a pile of manure.
“Officers knocked on the door and made contact with Wright as he opened the door and was asked to step outside. A female was also inside of the bedroom and was identified as Christian Olson. While the door was open, I observed the green Salt Lake County Sheriff’s jacket hanging in the entry-way closet,” a Lehi Police officer wrote in the arrest report.
Daniel and his friend are facing charges of burglary and racketeering. Daniel is facing additional charges for impersonating an officer, and theft of one donut.
