Major Retailer with Two C.V. Locations Raising Minimum Wage
Target is fulfilling its promise to increase minimum wage employees pay (both full and part time) to $15 an hour according to a press release. The retailer, which has a location in Waterloo (Super Target) and Cedar Falls; plus a major distribution center also in Cedar Falls, claims that their 275,000 part-time and full-time team members will be seeing the pay raise. The raises are set take effect on July 5.
Target had previously pledged to raise the minimum wage three years ago, and promised to implement the raises by December of this year. In addition, the company is giving a one-time $200 recognition bonus at the end of July to all eligible full-time and part-time hourly employees at both its retail locations and distribution centers according to the press release.
According to the career section of its website, Target is hiring roughly 11 positions for their stores, and several for the distribution center. Like many other retailers that are deemed essential, Target stores have remained opened during the COVID-19 pandemic, despite altered hours.
