Oelwein Man Arrested For Waiving Bat, Firearm In Road
Fayette County authorities have arrested an Oelwein man on numerous charges, after getting several 911 calls reporting that a man was standing in the middle of a road, striking vehicles with a bat and waiving a firearm.
An investigating deputy took Augustin Mormann, 29, into custody Tuesday evening. He was charged with the following crimes: intimidation with a dangerous Weapon, second-degree criminal mischief, driving while barred, carrying weapons, interference with official acts, fraudulent use of registration and no insurance.
Mormann was being held in the Fayette County jail on $20,000 cash bond. Oelwein police assisted the sheriff's officials.
The incident happened just before 7 PM Tuesday near the 3,000 block of "T" Avenue, just west of Oelwein.
