There's no better hiking buddy than one of the friendly llamas at Prairie Patch Farm in Cedar Rapids!

Prairie Patch Farm is a private 50-acre wildlife refuge and nature preserve that is best known for its fun llama experiences. One of those experiences is their 90-minute llama hikes! They host their hikes in the spring and in the fall: April through June and September through November.

According to the website, hikers will first gather at the farm to learn about the llamas and how to handle them before venturing out onto the trail. It says that "the hike is 1.2 miles with wide mowed paths through our forest reserve, tall grass prairie and over a creek crossing that winds up and around a large cedar grove." Everyone is required to wear close-toed shoes for the experience, and it's also recommended that guests wear long pants and bring water.

Tickets for the private and public spring llama hikes will officially go on sale on March 20th at 12 p.m. on the Prairie Patch website HERE. Other experiences that Prairie Patch Farm offers include Selfies & Snuggles Farm Visits, Llama-Grams, adult and youth llama camps, and educational or therapeutic llama visits to places like schools and nursing homes. The farm also has a cool Airbnb that you can book where the llamas will walk right up to the back door of the house! You can check out photos of that below:
