Waterloo Welcomes New Veridian Credit Union Location
A local credit union is opening a new branch not too far from an old location.
This past June, the Hy-Vee on Logan Avenue in Waterloo shut its doors for good. Unfortunately, this was a part of a multi-location series of closures throughout Eastern Iowa.
The Logan Avenue Hy-Vee had a Veridian Credit Union branch set up inside, which had to close when the grocery store did.
Now, news has come out that a new Veridian location will be opening up nearby.
Where Will This New Veridian Credit Union Be Located?
In a statement from Veridian Credit Union's official website, a new branch will open on the northeast corner right at the intersection at Logan Avenue and Heath Street in Waterloo.
Veridian entered into a "purchase agreement" for this specific property.
This is just a mile from the old branch in the Logan Avenue Hy-Vee.
Why Are They Opening This Branch?
When Veridian found out that the Logan Avenue branch would have to shut down, they started looking for another location to help fulfill the needs of the customers in that area.
“That closure created a financial desert, and we understand the hardship that creates in our community. We’re grateful to have found a way to continue serving our members there in person," said Veridian’s President and CEO Renee Christoffer.
When Will the Branch Open Up?
In the company's online statement, officials confirmed that a timeframe for construction and the branch's opening have not been determined yet. There is no set opening day for this building.
This is still a developing story, so we will keep you updated as more information comes out regarding this project.
