Not only is Caitlin Clark one of the best basketball players in the world, but she's also one of the most popular.

She's not just the most popular player in the WNBA, she's one of the most recognizable basketball players on the planet, man or woman. Having her on Team USA easily makes this one of the most-watched teams in the Olympics. I'm not saying people won't watch the team but you can be certain the viewership will be lower than if she was on the team.

You would think Team USA and the U.S. Olympic Committee would want one of the world's best and most popular players to represent their team, but that won't be the case.

USA Today says Caitlin Clark will be left off Team USA in the 2024 Summer Olympic games.

Motivation Moving Forward?

When asked about being left off the Olympic team, Caitlin said all of the right things. She talked about being excited for the girls on the team and how it could've gone either way. According to USA Today she said

"I'm excited for the girls that are on the team. I know it's the most competitive team in the world, and I knew it could've gone either way, me being on the team, me not being on the team. I'm excited for them. I'm going to be rooting them on to win gold. I think it just gives you something to work for. That's a dream. Hopefully one day I can be there. I think it's just a little more motivation."

While Caitlin did say all of the right things to the press, she did inform her head coach, Christie Sides, "They woke a monster."

One benefit for Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever is they will get a long break when the Olympics start. The WNBA will take a 3-week break while the Olympic games are underway.
