The Iowa Lottery's $100,000 Mega Crosswords scratch ticket promises players a chance at big bucks, as its name implies. The tickets are $10 a piece and have other prizes ranging from $10 to $10,000, aside from the $100K.

Again, I'm pretty jazzed when I have a double-digit lottery winner. I can't imagine a six-digit winner.

But, I'm sure Walter Wood from Sumner has gotten used to it. Earlier this month, he scored that huge payday on the $100,000 Mega Crosswords he purchased at the Dollar Fresh Market in Oelwein.

Walter certainly had a lucky day, the odds of winning one of the $100,000 jackpots on this ticket is 1 in 119,287.89.

When Walter dropped by the lottery office, he told the lottery official,

I just always tell my wife, someday we'll be lucky...

That someday was earlier this month for the 72-year-old who works at a rock quarry.

Speaking of work, he told the lottery official that he has no plans to retire, but when he decides to, this will make things much more comfortable.

There's no doubt about that!

The $100,000 Mega Crosswords ticket has a total of 46 top prizes and 92 $10,000 prizes.
