It's a time-honored tradition that Americans cheer on Olympians representing Team USA.

We get to see the greatest athletes on the planet competing against each other for fame and glory.

However, one Olympic event and one specific Olympian from Australia was the subject of a slew of online attention recently.

One of the newest events added to the Paris 2024 Olympics was breakdancing otherwise known as "breaking."

During the run of this event, there was a dancer that stood out.

Rachael Gunn also known as Raygun represented Australia in this event, and her routine went viral on social media.

During her routine she's seen making some...interesting choices. There was one kangaroo inspired move that became a viral meme.

According to reports, the 36-year-old professor turned breakdancer did not medal at the Olympics nor did she score any points in the competition. She lost all three of her round robin battles.

After her performance Gunn began getting bombarded with hate on social media, so much so that she had to put out a video on Instagram addressing everything.

"I really appreciate the positivity and I'm glad that I was able to bring some joy into your lives, " the lecturer at Sydney’s Macquarie University said.

"I didn't realize that that would also open the door to so much hate, which has frankly been pretty devastating."

From Australia to Iowa

This Australian Olympian wasn't the only one getting messages about that viral performance. The iconic Midwestern t-shirt/screen printing store RAYGUN started receiving emails and messages intended for the dancer.

Some of them were not very nice...

There are ten RAYGUN locations, but not a single one of them is in Australia.

According to a recent report from the Des Moines Register, the owner and founder of RAYGUN, Mike Draper said that he has reached out to the other Raygun.

Apparently store officials are interested in sponsoring her. She hasn't responded just yet.

We will keep you updated if any partnership is made.

They are releasing Raygun inspired RAYGUN shirts at their stores soon!
