Abrupt Farewell: Eastern Iowa Restaurant Announces Sudden Closure
After a decade in business, one popular Waverly eatery will be closing its doors for good.
Officials from the Dirty Dog American Bar & Grill announced the sad news on Tuesday, May 7th. This eatery first opened up at 1016 W Bremer Avenue in Waverly in 2014.
They've been serving up the classic American fare like burgers, sandwiches, and wraps at Dirty Dog's to the entire Cedar Valley for ten years.
Why Exactly Are They Closing?
While the owners didn't explicitly state exactly why the restaurant is shutting down, they sure did allude to it.
The team at the Dirty Dog put the blame on staff shortages.
"I have never heard of a place closing when they had enough business but not enough staff! It's so sad," the owners said in a statement on Facebook.
"What is happening in this country is nothing short of disastrous. We know there are 1000s like us. So many affected by this madness."
When Will Dirty Dog Close?
This came as such a surprise to the town of Waverly.
An even bigger surprise was just how imminent that closure actually was...
The announcement came out on Tuesday, and the restaurant's last day open is Wednesday.
On Wednesday, May 8th Dirty Dog will close its doors for the final time. Officials from the restaurant confirmed that they would be open from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM on their final day in business.
